Item Description: Feltrinelli, 2011. Book Condition: New. Language: italian. Bookseller Inventory # 9872742

He was also the first Danish artist of whom a substantial biography is reconstructable and a substantial body of artworks is attributable. Melchior Lorck was born in either 1526 or 1527 as son of a city clerk, Thomas Lorck, in Flensburg in the duchy of Schleswig in present-day Germany. The first document relating to him is the receipt of a royal Danish 4 year travel stipend from the Danish king, Christian III, signed on March 22, 1549 in Flensburg. His earliest engravings stem from the years before the travel stipend, starting with rather unsec. 116 pp. Englisch. Bookseller Inventory # 9781156147719

Item Description: Instituto De Alta Cultura Lisboa, 1972. Binding is Tight. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good Plus. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Written in Portuguese. Os Lusíadas is a Portuguese epic poem by Luís Vaz de Camões. Written in Homeric fashion, the poem focuses mainly on a fantastical interpretation of the Portuguese voyages of discovery during the 15th and 16th centuries. Os Lusíadas is often regarded as Portugal's national epic, much in the way as Virgil's Aeneid was for the Ancient Romans, as well as Homer's Iliad and Odyssey for the Ancient Greeks. It was first printed in 1572, three years after the author returned from the Indies. In very good condition. The dustjacket has some small marking and slight yellowing. Spine is slightly creased on the blue cloth board cover, but cloth board is otherwise in fine condition. The pages within are clean, crisp and in great condition, with a tight binding. Be moved by the state of the world, outspoken about what's unfair and excited about making a difference. Be Humankind. HD_100061071 - D5. Cloth Bound Hardback. Bookseller Inventory # 002302

Item Description: Editorial Almuzara, 2007. Book Condition: New. Item Description: Oxford, Bern, Berlin, Bruxelles, Frankfurt am Main, New York, Wien, 2007. 283 pp., 2007. Book Condition: New. This book examines the relationship between empire, its representations in poetry, and the principal ways of ordering the world at certain key historical moments as figured in the work of three poets associated with Southern Africa: Luis Vaz de Camões in the sixteenth century, Thomas Pringle in the nineteenth century, and Roy Campbell in the twentieth century. In its consideration of ways of ?ordering the world? the book draws on Michel Foucault?s theory of epistemic periodisation. Positing the various consequences of such epistemic vision, yet connately dealing with the poets as specific individuals with their own predispositions, the book engages in analyses of selected passages from Camões? epic Os Lusíadas, along with analyses of various poems by Pringle and Campbell.
