Item Description: Lexis Nexis, 2012. Softcover. Book Condition: New. . (illustrator). . Justice G P Singh, former Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, is among the most distinguished jurists of the country. He has delivered a range of judgments on varied branches of law. His judgments are distinctive in their clarity, logic and narrative quality. A study of his craft, method and style will be a beneficial exercise for the legal fraternity as well as new entrants to the judiciary. Justice Singh`s judgments show a full application of mind to the relevant facts of the case, the issues which arise for decision and the application of law to these facts. An analysis of the judgments reveals the facts in dispute and the facts which have to be determined. Every judgment is a self-contained document consisting of a comprehensive analysis of facts, a description of the controversy which was settled by the Court and most importantly the reasons based on which a conclusion was reached. The judgments reveal the law and principle on which the reasoning is based along with the judge`s own view. For these reasons, the judgments are particularly helpful to the Appellate Courts. This book will be of great help to National and State Judicial Training Academics, practicing lawyers, legal scholars and law students studying legal method and case analysis, and also to members of the judiciary who want to further improve and perfect their judgments. The present volume VIII is an endeavour to bring out biographical sketches of some of the distinguished plant pathologists of the world. An attempt has been made not only to describe the outstanding contributions but also their paths to success. Unfortunately the space does not permit to include the list of publications. The biographies have not been arranged in any particular order. The present volume is the part II of the volume VII and includes the memoirs of 20 eminent plant pathologists including a few namely Butler Mundkur and Mehta who laid foundations of plant pathology in India. Most of the articles have been written by subject matter specialists who have been in close touch with the distinguished plant pathologists. But in certain cases only the published material formed the basis for the write up but even these have included personal anecdotes to indicate their intimate interest in the subject it teaching and students. This volume will inspire the young mind to chose plant pathology as a career and the old mind to go deeper in the subject and solve complex plant pathological problems to serve the society. 226 pp. Bookseller Inventory # 63047

Bharat Ratna is India's highest civilian award awarded for the highest degrees of national service. This service includes artistic literary and scientific achievements as well as recognition of public service of the highest order. Unlike knights holders of the Bharat Ratna carry no special title nor any other honorifics but they do have a place in the Indian order of precedence. The award was established by the first President of India Rajendra Prasad on January 2 1954. Along with other major national honours such as the Padma Vibhushan Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri the awarding of the Bharat Ratna was suspended from July 13 1977 to January 26 1980. The honour has been awarded to forty persons a list which includes two non Indians and a naturalized Indian citizen. Originally the specifications for the award called for a circular gold medal carrying the state emblem and motto among other things. It is uncertain if a design in accordance with the original specifications was ever made. The actual award is designed in the shape of a peepul leaf and carries the Hindi written words Bharat Ratna on the front. 320 pp. Bookseller Inventory # 72875
