no binding. Condition: very good. PRINT SHOWS:ARACHIS HYPOGAEA - The peanut or groundnut (Arachis hypogaea) is a species in the legume family Fabaceae native to South America. It is an annual herbaceous plant growing to 30 to 50 cm (one to one and a half feet) tall. The leaves are alternate, pinnate with four leaflets (two opposite pairs; no terminal leaflet), each leaflet 1 to 7 cm (1/3 to 2.75 inches) long and 1 to 3 cm (1/3 to 1 inch) broad. The flowers are a typical peaflower in shape, 2 to 4 cm (3/4 to one and a half inches) across, yellow with reddish veining. After pollination, the fruit develops into a legume 3 to 7 cm (1 to 2 inches) long containing 2 to 3 (rarely 1 or 4) seeds, which forces its way underground to mature.MANGIFERA INDICA - The mango (Mangifera spp.; plural mangos or mangoes) is a genus of about 35 species of tropical fruiting trees in the flowering plant family Anacardiaceae. Mangos are large trees, reaching 35-40 m in height, with a crown radius of 10 m. The leaves are evergreen, alternate, simple, 15-35 cm long and 6-16 cm broad; when young they are orange-pink, rapidly changing to a dark glossy red, then dark green as they mature. The flowers are produced in terminal panicles 10-40 cm long; each flower is small and white with five petals 5-10 mm long, with a mild sweet odour suggestive of lily of the valley. After the flowers finish, the fruit takes from three to six months to ripen.ANANAS SATIVUS - The genus Ananas belongs to the Bromeliad family (Bromeliaceae). It is best known for the species Ananas comosus, better known as the pineapple. This genus originated in South America and was brought to the Caribbean Islands by the Carib Indians. In 1493, Christopher Columbus first saw plants of this genus in Guadeloupe. It was brought to Europe, and from there was distributed to the Pacific Islands by the Spanish and the English. Commercial pineapple plantations were established in Hawaii, the Philippines, Southeast Asia, Florida and Cuba. The pineapple has become one of the world's most popular fruits.CHENOPODIUM QUINOA - Quinoa is a species of goosefoot (Chenopodium) grown as a crop primarily for its edible seeds. Considered to be a grain crop, it is a pseudocereal rather than a true cereal, as it is not a grass. Its leaves are also eaten as a leaf vegetable, much like amaranth.PERSEA GRATISSIMA - Persea is a genus of about 150 species of evergreen trees belonging to the laurel family, Lauraceae. The best-known member of the genus is the Avocado P. americana, widely cultivated in subtropical regions for its large, edible fruit.CICER ARIETINUM - The chickpea, chick pea, garbanzo bean, ceci bean, bengal gram, chana or channa (Cicer arietinum) is an edible legume (British "pulse") of the family Fabaceae, subfamily Faboideae.NEPHELIUM LITCHI - The fruit of a tree native to China (Nephelium Litchi). It is nutlike, having a rough but tender shell, containing an aromatic pulp, and a single large seed. In the dried fruit which is exported the pulp somewhat resembles a raisin in color and form.BAMBUSA - Bambusa is a large genus (about 37 species) of clumping bamboos. These species are usually giant ones, with numerous branches at a node and one or two much larger than the rest. They are found in tropical and subtropical areas of Asia, especially in the monsoon and wet Tropics. This is a mostly cultivated genus.ARAUCARIA IMBRICATA - Chilian Pine. Monkey Puzzle.ORYZA SATIVA - Rice refers to two species (Oryza sativa and Oryza glaberrima) of grass, native to tropical and subtropical southern & southeastern Asia and to Africa, which together provide more than one fifth of the calories consumed by humans[8]. (The term "wild rice" can refer to wild species of Oryza, but conventionally refers to species of the related genus Zizania, both wild and domesticated.) Rice is an annual plant, growing to 1 1.8 m tall, occasionally more, with long slender leaves 50 100 cm long and 2 2.5 cm broad. The small wind-pollinated flowers are produced in a branched arching to pendulous inflorescence 30 50 cm long. The seed is a grain (caryopsis) 5 12 mm long and 2 3 mm thick.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - ADVENTURE TALES #3 celebrates the work of 'Murray Leinster' -- the pen name of William Fitzgerald Jenkins (1896-1975) -- whose writing career spanned the first six decades of the 20th century. From mystery and adventure stories in the earliest years to science fiction in his later years, he worked steadily and at a highly professional level of craftsmanship longer than most writers of his generation. He won a Hugo Award in 1956 for his novelet 'Exploration Team,' and in 1995 the Sidewise Award for Alternate History took its name from his classic story, 'Sidewise in Time.' His last original work appeared in 1967.Also included: 'Land Sharks and Others,' a tale of piracy not on the high seas, by H. Bedford-Jones; 'Light on a Subject' a tale of pearl-harvesting and sales, by Raymond S. Spears; 'Channa's Tabu,' by Harold Lamb; 'Forbidden Fruit,' by John D. Swain; 'Kill That Headline,' by Robert Leslie Bellem; 'The Floating Island,' by Philip M. Fisher; and George Allan England's tale of the Dark Continent, 'Africa.' Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -A successful seientific career requires constant effort on the part of the seientist. If such a career is to be achieved by seientists in developing countries where the faeilities are not easily available, even more dedication is required. Dr. K. M. Sivanandaiah, having completed a successful career in the field of peptide chemistry, is such a seientist. Being weIl aware of the limited research facilities available in India, we are extraordinarily appreciative of Professor Sivanandaiah's dedication to the advancement of science. As a Professor of Chemistry and, until his retirement in 1992, the Head of the Department of Studies in Chemistry at Bangalore University, India, he not only devoted much of his time to his students, teaching basic organic chemistry, but was also able to contribute to the field of peptide chemistry. After completing 25 years of service at Central College, Bangalore, where he was admired as an outstanding teacher, Professor Sivanandaiah is still active in research. He is now Professor Emeritus and continues to contribute to the field of peptides. As former students of Professor Sivanandaiah, we felt that publishing a book containing articles related to the design, synthesis, conformation, and biological activity of peptides and written by eminent scientists in the field of peptide research would be a fitting tribute to his role in the field of bioorganic chemistry. 328 pp. Englisch.
