Book Description: V B Fine Art, UK, 2014. Hardcover. Book Condition: New. Limited. 'Walls with Wounds' was a landmark exhibition by Dale vN Marshall, a Coventry University Fine Art graduate. Originally a graffiti artist spray-painting the walls of Bristol under the tag 'Vermin', Marshall was sectioned in 1999 in one of Britain's oldest asylums, St Lawrence's Hospital in Cornwall. 'Walls with Wounds' draws inspiration not only from graffiti and Marshall's time at St Lawrence's, but also from his studio, a former Victorian workhouse in North Wales, its decaying walls inscribed by children over 100 years ago. Each painting is inspired by a dramatic memory and represents a healing journey through physical destruction and repair. Marshall's layered, multi-media works consist of a symbolic language of abstract expression and mark-making. The result is a series of vibrant, powerful works, raw and emotive, documenting his personal journey from rebellion to rehabilitation. Exhibited at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum Coventry, February to May 2014. 300 copies of the book were printed, 100 of which were signed by the artist (this being no. 32). Bound in green cloth. Foreword by Vanessa Brodrick of VB Fine Art, essay by Cherri Lakey. Signed by Artist. Bookseller Inventory # 010707

Book Description: Marchland Books, 2014. Soft cover. Book Condition: New. 1st Edition. Adding to his earlier collections of poems ‘Myth and Memory’ and ‘Long Wayman’, Nigel Sustins uses historical characters and events but takes them ‘over the border’ into myth and legend. Charles Darwin, Mary Webb, Lord Talbot Earl of Shrewsbury, King Athelstan, Charles II, Jane Hill of Hawkstone, Philip Sidney, Walter Scott and Wilfred Owen enter a fictional landscape coloured by literary allusion but still rooted in reality. The poems are set in Shropshire and Wales, and on the borders of the old Kingdom of Mercia. Strands of myth - Welsh, Irish, Greek, Hindu, Norse and Arthurian - are woven into new patterns. New copy, signed by author. Signed by Author(s). Bookseller Inventory # 010544

Book Description: Marchland Books, 2012. Soft cover. Book Condition: New. 1st Edition. A new collection of verse-narratives associated with Shropshire landmarks, churches and people. Most of the poems deal with the supernatural or uncanny, but also reflect the glories of the Shropshire countryside. A warrior's spear is charged with the power of lightning on the Stiperstones; a strange presence on Black Rhadley Hill guards a highwayman's gold; a husband seeks for his lost wife in the Dance of Death on Adstone Hill; the owner of Walcot Hall has a frightening encounter in a mock-Indian temple; 'Mad Jack' Mytton is pursued by the 'Seven Whistlers' of Shropshire folklore; Fulke Fitz Waryn's skull is unearthed in an old farmhouse. In a blend of the Gothic and modern, historical characters enter an alternative reality, and new stories, laced with myth and legend, are born from the Shropshire landscape itself. Photographs by Jean Couper. Signed by author. Signed by Author(s). Bookseller Inventory # 009544

Book Description: Marchland Books, Shropshire, 2011. Soft Cover. Book Condition: New. First Edition. An extension of the 'Wild Edric' saga which embraces Shropshire folk-lore interwoven with heroic deeds and medieval romance in the style of Arthurian legend. The three interlinked stories in 'Edric's Land' ('Aelnoth's Odyssey', 'Herla's Hunt' and 'The Prisoner of Wigmore') are inspired by Shropshire's evocative landscape, and mix historical realism with flights of the imagination. The trilogy uses elements of the Edric saga as a backdrop, whilst the main action concerns new characters: dispossessed Saxon, Norman heiress, outlaws, kings, knights, Marcher Lords, Welsh Princes and Bards, a monk, an abbess, travelling actors, witches, the Leader of the Wild Hunt, the Wild Man of the Woods, and Edric’s wife: the Lady Godda. PLEASE NOTE: to keep costs low, this book has been produced at a local print-shop in A5 format, with colour matt-laminated card covers, and ring-binding. 212 pages, illustrated. The prequel: 'Wild Edric: A Narrative Poem', by the same author, is also available. Signed by Author. Bookseller Inventory # 008968
