The book is in Fine condition without any visible defects, damages, losses, remarks and stains. One soft small creaser across the top corner on back cover. Current great richly illustrated album was edited to the 100th anniversary of Estonian most outstanding artist Märt Laarman. It includes foreword, artist's creative biography considering all the periods of his career development, 30 black-and-white artwork reproductions, 71 photos of lost or perished works, 28 colour full-page reproductions, 13 biographical photos, summary in English, list of exhibitions artist participated in, bibliographical references. Märt Laarman (1896-1979) is known as one of the leaders of the cubist-constructivist movement called The Group of Estonian Artists, founded in 1923. He established the theoretical basis for the movement in the almanac "The Book of New Art" (1928). Under the influence of expressionism in 1910s he created his early works. Despite being intellectual and systematic, Laarman was also romantic. These two elements led him to the new art - to Expressionism as well as Constructivism. Although Laarman is very original as a painter and colorist, his contribution to Estonian art lies mainly in graphic art - in wood- and linocut. In woodcut technique he created one of the most outstanding print-folders in Estonian art - the "Seven woodcuts" (1923) and wrote a book "Woodcut" (1927). Laarman also known as a prominent books designer. He has illustrated approximately 150 books, created as many bookplates, and enriched bibliographic printed matter with book-blocks which were unique in Estonia.
