Hard cover laminated pictorial boards 86pp b&w photos. New copy. 37 Radar Station was one of the earliest units to arrive at Milne Bay. It was manned by young trainees that had not actually seen a Radar unit until it was off-loaded at Port Moresby. They quickly learned their trade and their primitive equipment proved vital in the Battle of Milne Bay. The author was a member of No 37 Radar Station and witnessed many of the events recorded here. He carried a camera with him and most of the previously unseen pictures in this book came from his own collection. Includes nominal roll.

He had been a Spitfire pilot and a member of 549 (Fighter) Squadron RAF from its formation until his untimely death on 16 November 1944 at Truscott, the secret wartime Kimberley airbase. He had flown 205 hours on Spitfires and 1240 hours on all types of planes. Also the story of Fighter Squadron 549.
