Their broad range of subject matter, novel designs, exquisite craftsmanship, standard of quality and distinctive Chinese style have made them world famous and much sought after. They have gained increasing popularity in the world commemorative coir medal market. In autumn 1988, we edited and published the first volume of Modern Chinese Commemorative Gold and Silver Coins and Medals Pictorial (1979-87), cataloguing all the commemorative gold and silver coins and medals minted and issued by the China Gold Coin Incorporation and the China Mint Co. under the People's Bank of China. The volume was highly valued as the most authoritative information available to study, appreciate, collect and market modern Chinese commemorative gold and silver coins and medals. Soon after it was published, copies were sold out. In order to meet the needs of coin collectors worldwide, we decided to publish the present volume. We reassembled the staff who had compiled and edited the first volume and sorted through the documents and pictures of the latest gold and silver coins and medals, incorporating readers' advice wherever possible. After several months of efforts, we completed the Modern Chinese Commemorative Gold and Silver Coins and Medals Pictorial (1988-90)- we are now proud to present it to our readers. The coins and medals included in this volume are divided into eight categories. These are Chines Commemorative Gold and Silver Coins, Chinese Twelve Animals Commemorative Coins Series, China Panda Gold and Silver Coins, Chinese Outstanding Historical Figures Commemorative Coin Series, Chinese Rare Wildlife Commemorative Coin Series, World Cultural Figures Commemorative Coins Series, Chinese Folk Gods Commemorative Medal Series and Chinese Commemorative Gold and Silver Medals. Chinese current commemorative coins and paper currency are also included here in order to give a thorough presentation of all Chinese currency.
