Some rippling along back and spine from suspected water damage. Roughly 3" long scratch on back board. Remants of sticker along bottom right corner of the back cover and a pale offset rectangular mark. Back hinge is cracked. Salmon endpapers. Interior pages have a repeating pictorial border in light red ink featuring artillery imagery. Interior is slightly warped from water damage and certain pages have minor soiling but on a whole, the interior is bright and easy to read. 22 black and white photographs and 1 color photograph. In this volume, Professor J.R. Conway constructs a meticulous record of the men and women of Cassia & Minidoka counties in Idaho and their involvement in the first World War. He includes portraits of servicemen and a compiled list of those wounded during service. A unique aspect of the book is the attention that Conway pays to the women's war efforts, including Red Cross involvement and organizing on the homefront. The back pages of the text include advertisements from local businesses who aided in funding the production of the book, many based in Burley, Idaho and the surrounding areas. A faithful regional history text, one of very few in circulation. Size: 7" x 10.25".
