Some browning and use but good-plus in slightly frayed dust-wrapper. "In the Springer Spaniel world the name of Dorothy Morland Hooper stands for knowledge of the breed in all its aspects. I have no hesitation whatever in stating that this is the best book on any breed of gundog that I have ever read. it is staggering in its comprehensiveness and detail." (Peter Moxon writing in the Shooting Times). A well thought-of book that ran to many editions. The second, and subsequent, editions were revised by Ian B. Hampton following Hooper's death in April 1970. For this fourth edition Hampton states "Very little alteration has been made to the main text but some additional material has been included at the end of certain chapters. The appendices have been revised fully and an additional chapter (XV) included to bring the present-day dogs into the picture."
