Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Stain on front cover. Ex libris stamp (Harvard) on title page. Wear / use on covers. A text by Max Gilbert, a Frenchman, in English, about classical sculptures he has personally visited. Apparently very rare. Published in 1974 by Richard Madley, LTD. in London. Softcover. Certainly looks private press and in limited number. The information provided is dense and fluent in the subject matter. It is, in a way, ordered as a travelogue in a more breezy prose than one would expect. Almost journalistic. Unclear where the ISBN comes from, it is not provided in the book. 220 pages. "Richard Madley LTD," only appears to be connected to three books, two of which by Gilbert, another about antique glass. A real dearth of information regarding Gilbert on the Anglo internet. Only one other text in English appears after a quick search online. Also concerning sculpture, marbles, megaliths, etc.
