Soft cover. Condition: New. BOZKURT, HATICE - OZLEM KAYA Holding up the photograph. Experiences of the women whose husbands were forcibly disappeared Istanbul: Hafiza Merkezi / Truth Justice Memory Center, 2014. 4to., 88 p. Paperback. New ISBN: 9786058597860 CATALOG: Social history KEYWORDS: Woman Violence sociology Social history This report is based on our field research that focuses on experiences of the wives of the forcibly disappeared people. Our objective in the interviews conducted was to present the dimensions of state violence more holistically through the experiences of the women and analyze state violence with a gender perspective. In addition to the interviews we conducted during the first year of the study, we did indept interviews with 33 women in Cizre, Idil, Silopi, Guclukonak, Uludere, Sirnak city center, Diyarbakir and Istanbul. We stress the need to include the experiences of the women, who were left behind, in all processes aiming to uncover the truth. The expressions of the women were intensively quoted in the report. In addition to the concrete policy recommendations from a gender perspective regarding enforced disappearances, you can also find the general comment of UN Human Rights Council Working Group On Enforced or Involuntary Disappearences on the women affected from enforced disappearances.

Soft cover. Condition: New. GORAL, OZGUR SEVGI - AYHAN ISIK - OZLEM KAYA Unspoken truth: Enforced disappearances. Istanbul: Hafiza Merkezi / Truth Justice Memory Center, 2013. 4to., 108 p. The report is based on field research we conducted primarily in the districts of Cizre, Idil, and Silopi in the Sirnak province. It was prepared using the testimonies of 86 relatives of 69 disappeared persons. In addition to the relatives of the disappeared, we interviewed jurists, representatives of rights organizations, and relatives of the disappeared who live in Istanbul. This report is an effort to grasp the legal, political, and social mechanisms through which the strategy of enforced disappearance is implemented. The report also tackles the mechanisms and practices through which society?s silence and indifference towards this continuing issue have been formed. Yet another significant focus of the report is the process and experiences the relatives of the disappeared go through before and after the enforced disappearance, and the meaning they attribute to them. The experiences of the relatives of the disappeared within the scope of the strategy of enforced disappearance also tell us important things about the state, justice, and citizenship in Turkey. This report was written in order to aid in the broad dissemination of this information into society. Paperback. Published by [ENGLISH: - - - Censored and retracted, rare. "The attempts repeatedly made by various authorities to circumscribe the freedom of opinion in the reign of Karl XIV Johan resulted not only in the confiscation of oppositional newspapers but also in a number of lese-majesty lawsuits. Among the most notable events were the actions brought against Anders Lindberg, Magnus Jacob Crusenstolpe and Napoleon Berger. It contains a good deal of criticism of the present state of affairs. Thus for instance the Government was accused of suffering bureaucrazy to stifle trade and industry, of not allowing the press to utter 'the words of truth and justice', and, 1838
