Buffalo Head ranch is located in Alberta, in the wilds of the Canadian Rockies. In 1933 the author, who had left London in search of a ?primeval wilderness,? bought the ranch from his friend George Pocaterra, who had homesteaded it in 1905. In addition to running cattle, Patterson established one of the first dude operations in Canada. He sold Buffalo Head in 1945, but it still exists to the present day.
