Item Description: Random House Audio, 2005. Hardcover. Book Condition: gut. Auflage: 1., Aufl. (7. Juni 2005). Bookseller Inventory # BN0761

Original black textured paper covered boards, lettered silver on spine. In original dust-wrapper. A tight, unread copy that is virtually mint in d/w. D/w has just a touch of fading to spine. It is not price clipped and displaysthe original price of £10 on inner front flap. This shocking black comedy is now recognized as something of a 20th century classic of American literature. However, it excited so much controversy when it was first published in 1991 that its American publishers dropped plans for an intended hardback edition and, instead, issued it only in paperback form. This British hardback edition from Picador was the first and, to date, the only hard cover trade edition of this important work. A lovely copy with clean, white pages and edges, squeaky tight binding and spotless d/w. Bookseller Inventory # 000234

Item Description: London: Picador, 1998. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Included. 1st English Edition. First British hardcover edition, first printing. Signed by Ellis on the title page. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in metallic silver; in the original pictorial red dust jacket, with an illustration of a masked businessman to the front panel, lettered in white and black. Near fine, with some light wear to the extremities, a hint of minor soiling to the front board, bright and fresh interior; unclipped dust jacket, with a hint of wear to the extremities, bright and unfaded spine, a few faint hints of light soiling to the rear panel, else fine. Overall, a tight and attractive copy. This copy of American Pyscho was inscribed by Ellis to former owner Joe Pacheco on August 17, 2005, at the Barnes and Noble at the north side of Union Square during his promotional tour for Lunar Park, which was first published earlier that month. A controversial novel even prior to its publication, American Psycho tells the story of Patrick Bateman, successful Wall Street businessman and sociopathic serial killer. The novel is narrated by the emotionless Bateman, who describes designer clothing and cannibalism with equal nonchalance, and quickly proves himself to be an unreliable narrator, warping the reader's understanding of whether the events of the novel actually occurred as they are being relayed. Originally set to be published by Simon and Schuster, an initial controversy sparked at the novel's detailed descriptions of Bateman's brutality against women and segments of these scenes were leaked to multiple magazines, prompting Simon and Schuster to cancel the novel's publication. Vintage, a division of Random House, picked up the book and published the first American edition in 1991, with Picador publishing the first British paperback edition later the same year. Interestingly, this first British hardcover edition precedes the first American hardcover, which was published by the Centipede Press in 2012. In 2002, American Psycho was adapted into a film of the same name starring Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman. Signed by Author. Bookseller Inventory # BEE001
