Dr. Artur Schneider (Zagreb, 1879. - Zagreb, 1946.), a Croatian art historian, music theoretician and fine arts critic. He graduated Art History in Vienna. Famous Croatian painter Ljubo Babic (Jastrebarsko 1890 - Zagreb 1974), worked as an Avant-garde author for theatre. In 1925, in Paris, he won Grand Prix for his stage design. A year later, in 1926, as a Paris discovery he participated in the International Theatre Exhibition in New York. Djurjda Kovacic in 'Prisutnost i odjeci ruske scenografije na zagrebackoj glazbenoj sceni 1918-1940', Zagreb 1991, says that Babic created under the influence of eminent Russian artist of the time. 3 pages of introduction by Artur Schneider and 6 pages with reproductions of Ljubo Babic's works. No page numbers, no title, title taken form the catalogization of National University Library. Cover page has original woodcut or linocut by Ljubo Babic with added couloring with which graphic was printed, with his signature (initials), in same style. One copy in National University library (NSK), one in Art Archive of Croatian Academy of Science and Art (HAZU), and maybe a few in private collections. Important work by Ljubo Babic from period of Expresionism. This one is UNIQUE by this post-cut colouring - the only copy of this kind. Art. Bookseller Inventory # 001145
