Item Description: The Fairfax Press. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. With the guidance of the old Century Magazine, and beginning less than twenty years after the conclusion of the war, the commanders on both sides were persuaded to describe their campaigns and individual battles, emphasizing their strategy and tactics and their results, but not neglecting the intimate, personal details which often make truth stranger and more rewarding than fiction." [Preface, page xi] This book is the reduction of that 1880 publication of Battles and Leaders from four volumes to one. YOU MAY PURCHASE BOTH the CENTURY MAGAZINE PUBLICATIONS: The American Heritage Century Collection of Civil War Art and this ONE-VOLUME Battles and Leaders FOR $195.
