First published in hard covers in the UK by Peter Nevill in 1952. This is the first printing of the first Italian edition translated by Egidio Modena. The boards are clean and bright with a small bump to the top rear corner. Very heavy browning to the outer edges of the pages which are otherwise clean and unmarked. Thin one inch strip - glue residue? - on the rear free endpaper. The jacket has a faded spine with chipping at the top and bottom and along the top edge on either side of the spine. One inch closed tear on the bottom corner of the front panel. Slight corner chipping. Signed by Author(s).

1st Edition 18.5 x 20.8 cm green cloth with gilt stamped titles and decoration to the spine. 515 [2]pp including a single page map at the rear. In original unclipped jacket priced at 16s. net. Clean bright boards with firm corners and just a hint of shelf wear. Internally, without name, inscription or bookplate but with some spotting to the edge of the text block that generally intrude onto the margins. There is spotting to the prelims and first three pages of chapter one and the last few pages of the book. The dust jacket is in very good condition with just a hint of fading to the spine and a little rubbing to the spine edges and corners with minor loss. Edgar Mittleholzer was born in Guyana and is considered to be the first professional novelist to come out of the English-speaking Caribbean. Children of Kaywana is the first book of his Kaywana trilogy, probably his best know work, uncommon in such a nice dust jacket.
