Item Description: Department of Defense. No Binding. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 003181--FM 5-20D Corps of Engineers Field Manual, Camouflage of Field Artillery-1944 70 Pages 1944 The importance of concealment to field artillery cannot be overstressed. There are three reasons why the enemy will do everything he can to discover the location of field artillery. The first, and obvious one, is to reduce our fire power. He will attempt to do this by counterbattery fire and by aerial attack. The enemy's second reason for trying to locate field artillery is because, if he has accurate information about the location of our batteries, he may be able to bypass them. Finally, by locating our artillery, the enemy can learn much about our plans. THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY. AFTER PURCHASE YOU WILL BE FURNISHED A LINK FOR DOWNLOAD BY EMAIL. 0. It may be used in conjunction with TM 9-1425 383-10-1, which contains procedures in abbreviated tabular form. The procedures in this section are based on the assumption that one missile (less warhead section) is to be assembled at a time, and that 1st and 2nd stage hoisting beams are carried assembled on the 1st stage container truck. (The 2nd stage hoisting beam spreader beam is removed to allow the 1st stage hoisting beam to nest with the 2nd stage hoisting beam.) When the procedures in this section have been performed, the equipment is ready for travel. If checkout is required, a confidence count with WSS (chapter 3) or a permit count (TM 9-1427-380-12/1) is performed. Following the checkout, the equipment is prepared for travel as prescribed in chapter 5. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 008964-Operations of the 17th Field Artillery, 2d Division, In the Aisne-Marne Operations, World War, 18 July-6 August, 1918 14 Pages1933 This paper discusses the military operations of the 17th Field Artillery from July 18 to August 6, 1918. The study reveals that poor visibility from the air enabled concentration to be made without discovery by the enemy. Muddy roads and traffic congestion delayed the movements of the regiment, and there was an absence of communication within infantry units, which resulted in less than full support in the advance. Three maps show the 2d Division sector, an operations map, and the artillery plan for the attack of the 2d Division, 18 July, 1918. THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY. Item Description: War Department, 1931. No Binding. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 004399-Field Artillery Field Manual-Volume I-Organization and Drill 136 Pages 1931 Mission of the Field Artillery.-The mission of Field Artillery is to assist the other arms, especially the Infantry and Cavalry, in combat by fire power. Relation to other arms.-The basic characteristics of Field Artillery, of primary consideration in its tactical employment, are its ability to deliver a great volume of fire continuously and at a rapid rate, to fire at great depths into enemy territory, and to concentrate its fire when and where necessary. Success in battle depends largely upon mutual support of the Artillery and Infantry or other associated arm. Accordingly, there must be a mutual understanding between the Artillery and the supported arm of each other's methods of action, powers, and limitations, as well as sure and rapid means of communication not only within the Artillery itself but between the Artillery and the supported arm. Item Description: US Army, 1992. No Binding. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 008988-75th Field Artillery Brigade Ammunition Resupply during Operation Desert Storm 133 Pages1992 This study compares ammunition resupply doctrine for nondivisional units with the 75th FA Brigade experiences during Desert Storm. The intent is to analyze the reasons the 75th was nearly out of ammunition at the end of the war. A four step process identifies the inadequacies of current resupply doctrinal procedures, the impact of future distribution system improvements, the experiences of the 75th FA Brigade resupply operations and a synthesis of what doctrinal improvements should alleviate the potential of similar problems occurring in the future. The comparison determined the ammunition distribution system albeit with ongoing improvements was capable of sustaining the 75th FA brigade. The Desert Storm resupply problems occurred because the 75th did not properly prepare for wartime operations. Peacetime constraints prevented the unit from drawing ammunition as they would during war. The key to successful resupply operations is proper practice of resupply doctrinal procedures during peacetime training. THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY. Item Description: US Army, 1975. No Binding. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 003855-Vietnam Studies-Field Artillery-1954-1973 229 Pages 1975 This monograph will illuminate some of the more important activities - with attendant problems, shortcomings, and achievements - of the U.S. Army Field Artillery in Vietnam. The wide variations in terrain, supported forces, density of cannon, friendly population, and enemy activity which prevailed throughout South Vietnam tend to make every action and every locale singular. Though based largely upon documents of an historical nature and organized in a generally chronological manner, this study does not purport to provide the precise detail of history. Its purpose is to present an objective review of the near past in order to assure current awareness, on the part of the Army, of the lessons we should have learned and to foster the positive consideration of those lessons in the formulation of appropriate operational concepts. My hope is that this monograph will give the reader an insight into the immense complexity of our operations in Vietnam. I believe it cannot help but reflect also the unsurpassed professionalism of the junior officers and noncommissioned officers of the Field Artillery and the outstanding morale and esprit de corps of the young citizen soldiers with whom they served. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 006247-Through the Eye of the Dragon, a History of the 3rd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery in the Persian Gulf War 151 Pages 1992 This is the story of an artillery battalion at war. In this account I have tried to recreate the events that occurred from pre-deployment through the return of the battalion from the theater. The paper is written as a history and therefore, I have attempted to leave most of the emotionalism and feeling out of the account. Perhaps the story is incomplete because of this omission. There are many, many vignettes and stories of patriotism, hardship and sacrifice that are not included. There are precious, humorous stories that so vividly add to the GI's folklore and legend. After its historic pursuit across northern France in August and September of 1944, the lack of supplies caused the Third United States Army to lose its momentum, and finally on the 25th of September, upon orders from higher headquarters, it passed from an offensive to a defensive status. Although this turned out to be an aggressive defensive situation which involved numerous limited objective operations, the Army front remained essentially along the line of the Moselle River until the offensive was resumed. This was a depressing and monotonous period in the lower echelons. The higher headquarters made plans for the coming drive into Germany and concentrated upon the building of supplies, but the smaller units passed from the exciting pursuit under the best summer field conditions to cheerless defensive operations in the cold and rain. Item Description: War Department, 1917. CD ROM. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 001541--War Department Document No 614-Manual for Noncommissioned Officers and Privates of Field Artillery of the Army of the United States-1917-Vol 1 282 Pages 1917 The very first paragraph in the Army Regulations reads: "All persons in the military service are required to obey strictly and to execute promptly the lawful orders of their superiors." Obedience is the first and last duty of a soldier. It is the foundation upon which all military efficiency is built. Without it an army becomes a job, while with it a mob ceases to be a mob and becomes possessed of much of the power of an organized force. It is a quality that is demanded of every person in the Army, from the highest to the lowest. Each enlisted man binds himself, by his enlistment oath, to obedience. Each officer, in accepting his commission, must take upon himself the same solemn obligation. THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY. Item Description: US Army, 1949. No Binding. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 005880-Operations of the 736th Field Artillery Battalion, XX Corps Artillery (3rd U.S. Army) In the Capture of the City of Metz, France, 2-20 November 1944 (Rhineland Campaign) 54 Pages 1949 (Personal Experience of a Battalion Assistant S-2 Survey Officer) During the latter half of August 1944, the newly operational Third United States Army under its colorful leader, General George S. Patton, Jr., made its famous drive across France. To the north of the Army zone, XX Corps, commanded by Major General Walton A. Walker, was slowed down at Verdun, France, on 31 August by an acute gasoline shortage. XII Corps making a parallel drive a few miles south had also run short of gasoline. Sufficient gasoline was furnished to reconnaissance elements, however, to enable them to reach the Moselle River during the period 1-3 September 1944. These patrols brought back the information that the city of Metz and the river were being prepared for defense by the retreating Germans. By 5 September 1944, gasoline was again available and XX Corps, on direction of Third Army, completed plans to renew the attack on 7 September. This attack was to launch a drive through Metz to the Rhine River. The attacking 7th Armored, 5th Infantry, and 90th Infantry Divisions in XX Corps zone met increasing enemy resistance at the Moselle River line. THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY. Item Description: War Department, 1917. CD ROM. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 004673-Lectures Delivered-Notes on Infantry, Cavalry and Field Artillery-1917 78 Pages 1917 In beginning the study of infantry tactics we must note, first, that in a modern engagement the decision is reached when the infantry of one side concludes it is beaten and leaves the field of battle. A victory is won not by the actual destruction of the enemy, nor usually of any great fraction of his strength but by so shaking his nerves and breaking down his will as to convince him that further resistance is useless. The chief element enforcing that conclusion upon him is the infantry of the victor; next in importance is the infantry's great assistant, the artillery; the-cavalry further assists by reconnaissance, by giving warning of changes in the enemy's dispositions, and sometimes by directly intervening on the field of battle. Item Description: US Army, 1944. No Binding. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 003030--Special Series No 25 Japanese Field Artillery-1944 120 Pages 1944 A salient feature of the organization of Japanese artillery prior to the outbreak of the present war was the absence of any adequate provision for the control of artillery by higher echelons. Preponderant, indeed almost exclusive, employment of artillery in the role of a forward infantry-support weapon justified, in the minds of Japanese staff officers, the allocation of small artillery units to infantry control, and a disproportionate number of independent artillery units. Even the absence of effective provisions for divisional control was justified under this concept. THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY.
