Item Description: US Army, 2004. CD ROM. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 000936--The Airborne Field Artillery: From Inception to Combat Operations 102 Pages 2004 In February 1942, the War Department established the first Airborne (artillery) Test Battery to conduct experiments and determine the feasibility of parachute field artillery. In just over a year's time, the notion of airborne field artillery, which consisted of parachute and glider field artillery battalions, evolved from its inception to combat operations in Africa, Sicily, and Italy. These campaigns would pave the way for what would be the biggest airborne drop and allied undertaking in history--D-Day, June 6, 1944. The challenge facing airborne field artillery forces was that its concept was new and evolving, but yet the greatest cross-channel invasion loomed just over the horizon. With these facts of history as background and given the 82nd Airborne Division's previous combat experiences in Sicily and Salerno, what adaptations were made in the planning and development of the concept of operations with regard to the role the division artillery was expected to play in the execution of Operation Neptune? In order to arrive at a reasonable conclusion, airborne doctrine as well as combat operations in Sicily and Italy was examined. Surprisingly, the 82nd Airborne Division Artillery did nothing different with regard to what was expected of them and their role in the initial invasion of Normandy. Item Description: US Army, 1944. No Binding. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 003030--Special Series No 25 Japanese Field Artillery-1944 120 Pages 1944 A salient feature of the organization of Japanese artillery prior to the outbreak of the present war was the absence of any adequate provision for the control of artillery by higher echelons. Preponderant, indeed almost exclusive, employment of artillery in the role of a forward infantry-support weapon justified, in the minds of Japanese staff officers, the allocation of small artillery units to infantry control, and a disproportionate number of independent artillery units. Even the absence of effective provisions for divisional control was justified under this concept. THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 007117-Global War on Terrorism Occasional Paper 4-Field Artillery in Military Operations Other Than War; An Overview of the US Experience 55 Pages2004 The initial conflicts in the Global War on Terrorism, Afghanistan and Iraq, pose significant challenges for the armed forces of the United States and its coalition allies. Among the challenges is the use of field artillery in those campaigns that fall short of conventional warfare. Engaged in a spectrum from full-scale combat to stability and support operations, the military is faced with an ever-changing environment in which to use its combat power. For instance, it is axiomatic that the massive application of firepower necessary to destroy targets in decisive phase III combat operations is not necessary in phase IV stability operations. Item Description: US Army. CD ROM. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 012608-Operational Data for Selected Field Artillery Units during World War II and the Korean War (ebook) 94 Pages 1954 The information obtained from the search of the World War II records relating to artillery operations and the data provided by the Ammunition Log of the 8th Field Artillery Battalion are, in effect, complementary. The statistical analysis of the Ammunition Log of the 8th Battalion furnished detailed information on the operations of a single 105mm howitzer battalion in division artillery in Korea. The World War II literature search provided much general information on a large number of artillery units engaged in a wider variety of operations. It is necessary to have this broad picture in order to view the Korean data in the proper light. THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY. Key efforts included improving the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course and the Captain's Career Course and participating in the Transformation of the Army effort. A few of the key issues that influenced overall installation operations were preparations for the Year 2000, budget reductions, and Fort Sill's continuing commitment to a community of excellence to ensure a high quality of life for the installation's soldiers, Marines, civilians, and family members. Item Description: US Army, 1933. No Binding. Book Condition: CD ROM-New. 008964-Operations of the 17th Field Artillery, 2d Division, In the Aisne-Marne Operations, World War, 18 July-6 August, 1918 14 Pages1933 This paper discusses the military operations of the 17th Field Artillery from July 18 to August 6, 1918. The study reveals that poor visibility from the air enabled concentration to be made without discovery by the enemy. Muddy roads and traffic congestion delayed the movements of the regiment, and there was an absence of communication within infantry units, which resulted in less than full support in the advance. Three maps show the 2d Division sector, an operations map, and the artillery plan for the attack of the 2d Division, 18 July, 1918. THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY.
