Book Description: Gnome Press, 1951. First Edition. ** THE FOUNDATION TRILOGY ** FOUNDATION, FOUNDATION AND EMPIRE & SECOND FOUNDATION, Gnome Press, 1951, 1952 & 1953 respectively, each volume in first edition (and first state bindings in first state full color pictorial dust-wrappers). This work awarded the HUGO for the best all time series. FOUNDATION is near fine in vg+/near fine dust-wrapper with some light wear and tear; FOUNDATION AND EMPIRE is vg+/near fine in bright vg+ dust-wrapper with some light wear and tear and some rubbing to the dust-wrapper panels; SECOND FOUNDATION is vg+/near fine in like dust-wrapper with some light rubbing to the rear dust-wrapper panel. Typed postcard SIGNED by the author laid in. (Editorial note: We would love to say that our dust-wrapper for FOUNDATION is the rare issue with the main character throughout the series name misspelled on the front dust-wrapper flap, but ironically, this major typo (Hari Sheldon for Hari Seldon) exists on all first printing dust-wrappers and was not caught until the second printing of this volume. To make matters even a bit more bizarre, the misspelled name also exists on the rear flap of FOUNDATION AND EMPIRE). Bookseller Inventory # 00627

Book Description: Everyman's Library London, 2010. Hardcover. Book Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. 1st Edition. Isaac Asimov's seminal Foundation trilogy one of the cornerstones of modern speculative fiction in a single hardcover volume.

It is the saga of the Galactic Empire, crumbling after twelve thousand years of rule. And it is the particular story of psychohistorian Hari Seldon, the only man who can see the horrors the future has in store a dark age of ignorance, barbarism, and violence that will last for thirty thousand years. Gathering a band of courageous men and women, Seldon leads them to a hidden location at the edge of the galaxy, where he hopes they can preserve human knowledge and wisdom through the age of darkness. In 1966, the Foundation trilogy received a Hugo Award for Best All-Time Series, and it remains the only fiction series to have been so honored. More than fifty years after their original publication, the three Foundation novels stand as classics of thrilling, provocative, and inspired world-building. With a superb and unique introduction by Michael Dirda, this is the most authorative edition of this seminal work, and this is a FIRST PRINTING of this Everyman edition. Protected jacket, unread copy, as new. These superb and elegantly designed books were relaunched in 1991, to great praise. A. S. Byatt said “They are so beautifully produced. They are a form of civilization.” John Updike wrote, “They are the edition of record.” They are, unsurprisingly, being collected, and these first printings especially. There is a fascinating chronology, a bibliography, and an elegant setting, as befits one of the world's 20th Century masterworks. A silk marker is bound in and the deep red cloth binding has a black panel on the spine with the title in gilt. This copy has a mylar sleeved jacket, which is unclipped. An unread new book, and a first edition thus. Bookseller Inventory # ABE-7469312075
