Each book has been hand-bound and reprints the entire first chapter of the original James Bond story. The jackets reproduce the artwork of the (full size) 2008 Centenary Edition hardbacks, with illustrations by Michael Gillette. The first miniature edition of the James Bond series, and according to Dateman, it is believed this is the first set of works in this format from a major modern writer. Bookseller Inventory # 39892

Item Description: Jonathan Cape (U.K.), 1957. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. IAN FLEMING - FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, published by Jonathan Cape, copyright 1957, First Printing ("First Published 1957" at top of copyright page with no references to subsequent printings), white endpapers, list in front of book to "Diamonds Are Forever," DJ rear panel is blank (confirming its a 1st state DJ), black boards with silver gilt lettering to spine, silver gilt gun and red gilt rose on front board, 13s 6d net price on DJ front flap. Book has no creased page corners, squared outer page corners, no foxing to pages or endpapers, dust soiling/age darkening to outer page edges, former owner's tiny name & date (April 1957) at bottom left on ffe, no other former owner's markings or used book store stamps/stickers inside, endpapers are clean and free from scotch tape residue marks or other discoloration or erasures, no hinge splitting, no spine lean, no wear to board edges, corners or spine tips (hint of rubbing shelf wear to spine tips), no bumped board corner, no soiling or staining to boards, no wear to spine lettering (usual slight oxidizing only). Dust Jacket has larger 'v' losses at spine tip corners, creases at corners on flaps (looks like somebody creased the flap corners to make it easier for the DJ to slip into a DJ protector at one point in its life), otherwise no chipping or tearing or creasing, slight wear to spine tips, hint of wear to front flap crease, no edge wear, slight dust soiling to white rear panel, usual but only slight spine sun darkening - not nearly as bad as is often found with this DJ (common defect with this light colored DJ), no foxing to panels, faint spot at bottom right on front panel otherwise no staining or soiling to panels or flaps. Overall a VG+/FINE- book in VG condition original dust jacket (not price clipped) of an Ian Fleming U.K. first printing hardcover book. I have a number of other U.S. and U.K. Ian Fleming James Bond 1st printing hardcover appearances up for sale. Bookseller Inventory # ABE-13334319848
