Book Description: Wise & Co., 1928. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Special Edition. 8vo - over 7. This copy of the Memorial Edition in fourteen volumes has been specially prepared by the Roycrofters in their shops, which are in East Aurora, Erie County, New York. Fourteen volumes are in flexible brown leatherette embossed boards with raised titles and decoration. Titles in gilt. Red and green embossed illustration to front boards. Top edges gilt. Each book with a different frontis portrait under tissue. Decorative black & red title pages. The first volume has an additional title and dedication page done in color. The guide book is in flexible black boards with no gilt. All are in original fine brown paper jackets with red and black titles and decoration. Multiple plates throughout. The books and their dust jackets are in near pristine condition, with only the slightest of faults. There is a bit of dust soiling to the top edges of a few. The dust jackets have some light edge wear. The front panel of the jacket of volume VII has a small scar, which upon closer examination appears to be a flaw in the paper. All jackets are well protected in mylar covers. A beautiful set. A series of biographical sketches written by Elbert Hubbard beginning in 1894. When Hubbard was unable to find a publisher for his works, he founded Roycrofter Press in order to print them himself. Over the next several years, the print shop flourished and was very successful. Hubbard and his wife died as passengers aboard the Lusitania. A Memorial Edition of all of Hubbard's Little Journeys series was first published by the Roycrofters shortly after his death, in 1916 in 14 volumes. This is the 1928 edition of that set, and includes a guide to the series. Bookseller Inventory # 000085
