Volume two, Messengers of the Day, is SIGNED TO THE TITLE PAGE BY ANTHONY POWELL, crossing through his printed name. Bound in uniform grey cloth and lettered in gilt to the backstrip, all four volumes are at least Near Fine, each in the original dustwrapper (volume one has been clipped and repriced by the publisher, the others are unclipped) all of which are Near Fine or better. Infants of the Spring (1976) is Fine in a Fine dustwrapper. Messengers of the Day (1978, SIGNED) is Near Fine+ (slight fading to the publisher's topstain and pushing to the heel of the spine) in a Fine dustwrapper. Faces in My Time (1980) is Near Fine (slight fading to the publisher's topstain, light foxing to the edge of the page block, and a couple of tiny isolated marks) in a Near Fine dustwrapper (a little sunning to the red of the spine). The Strangers All Are Gone (1982) is Fine in a Near Fine+ dustwrapper (the merest trace of sunning to the spine). Overall, a very bright, crisp and clean set.
