Édition originale de ce remarquable poème dont chaque paire de vers se termine par des rimes homonymes, formant ainsi des jeux de calembours, dans lequel l'auteur livre une amère satire des moeurs du temps et déplore les guerres civiles qui divisent le royaume. Dans une épître datée du camp, 10 février 1569, Du Verdier souligne la singularité de ses vers : De prime face (Lecteur) ce Poëme te semblera mal poli & rude : mais quand tu auras consideré de pres la difficulté de ce genre d'escrire, ie m'asseure que excusant la rudesse, tu gratifieras le labeur & l'invention.
