No Binding. Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Circa early 1800s. 12 1/2 x 9 1/2 inch map on 14 x 12 inch paper. Multiple fold lines, 2 inch tear on left edge, 1/2 inch tear on right. Some ink transfer due to being folded. Jean Baptiste d'Anville (1697-1782) was a geographer and cartographer who greatly improved the standards of map-making. He was known for his meticulous research. This map was originally drawn for Charles Rollin's "Ancient History". It covers the Mediterranean coast of Libya and Most of Egypt. The Egypt portion is quite detailed. This particular map is Plate II from an English translation of "Ancient History", sculpted by R. W. Seale.
