Only Edition. pp [ii] title, verso blank, i-iv Dedication to Speaker Onslow, [i-vi] Contents, v-xiv Preface, 15-143, [1], 1-38 appendix, [1]-8 Postscript; 2 engraved plates, printed by W. Jackson and sold by R. and J. Dodsley (et al), recent half calf, spine gilt in compartments, lacks half title, owner's name written neatly in ink at head of title, ESTC N12387. Hole writes in support of the church wardens, who had ornamented the church in various ways, in particular with a stained glass window, which opponents considered 'a superstitious image or picture', further objecting that it had been put up without a licence. The parishioners eventually won their case, and the window stayed. The plates show a plan of the window and Onslow on his seat in the church. Title concludes: '.and Stained Glass Window erected over it; a State of the Prosecution it has occasioned; and Other Papers.' Size: 4to.
