Item Description: Viking, 1967. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Print. 188 pages. In about Very Good condition. A more recent personal inscription to the first free page in pen, otherwise no other writing. Back board shows some discoloration from glue(?) from when the binding was put together at the factory but there is also some small white residue that appears spots along the back gutter of the book. Some very light creases to the first 14 pages where someone had thumbed the book a little too hard; barely noticeable though. The bottom of the spine shows a bit of fading where the dust jacket is missing a chunk from the bottom. The dust jacket is price clipped and shows other tears along the top and bottom edges as well as to the spine. A rare opportunity to have this very scarce First Edition, First Print of S.E. Hinton's landmark book. Paypal always welcome. We pack and ship all our books with care in cardboard boxes. Additional photos emailed upon request. Sorry no overseas shipping. Item Description: Viking, New York, 1967. 188 pp. First edition. First edition. 188 pp. ONE OF THE GREAT AMERICAN COMING-OF-AGE NOVELS. One of modern literature's most remarkable debuts: a classic coming of age novel and a gritty, unflinching look at American youth culture, written by a seventeen-year-old S.E. Hinton. Narrated by Ponyboy Curtis, a Greaser in war against again the Socs, we watch him and his brothers, Dally and Soda, try to stick together in the wake of their parent's death. The book is now a staple of middle and high-school reading lists. Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 film adaptation was a breakout film for the Brat Pack. This is the best copy we've had of this title. A fine copy in original red-lettered cloth, just a tiny bit creasing to head and tail of spine of dust jacket, lower corner of front flap clipped, but not price clipped.
