Original plain endpapers, no previous ownership details. Printed title page with a small woodcut of a coffin. By Jabez Richardson, A. M. [pseudonym of Benjamin Henry Day [d 1810-1889] ] . The Preface includes details of William Morgan and the anti-masonic affair. Pages lightly toned. Clear text throughout in double columns, with numerous small illustrations within the text. A very good copy of this scarce work.

A scarce piece and early edition on Masonic history and practices, written as persecution of the group decreased in the United States and information about customs and rituals became less secretive.
