Trace foxing on the top edge of the text block. There is minor soiling near the fore edges of the boards. A very good copy lacking the glassine dust wrapper.

First Edition. Red cloth stamped in gilt at spine in acetate dust jacket; 8vo. 53 pp. A Fine copy of the poet's first book, number 105 of 225 copies printed by K[im] K Merker of the press. Strand who would go on to win many awards in his career including the Pulitzer Prize thought highly enough of this his first collection to include ten of these poems in his 1980 Selected Poems. The gilt a bit dull, else all fine (no foxing, soiling) in an clear acetate jacket with one chip else minor loss and wear at edges.

Apparently issued with a glassine, but not on any of the dozen or so copies we have seen. This copy has a mylar cover on it, but we don't believe it to be original. Sunning to the spine with just a touch of rubbing to the gilt lettering which is clear; contents bright and fresh. Near Fine.
