The marbled endpapers are fine, matching the outer page edges.The frontispiece and 1/2 title pages are water-stained at top and bottom edges only. Some scattered bottom edges have a bit of a stain (mostly faint) that doesnt affect the text or the illustrations. Otherwise the book is internally nearly fine with beautiful engravings, including full and double page engravings of U.S. Grant, Maj-Gen.
