Book
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1007pp plus twelve black and white ilustrations by Bernie Wrightson. Front endpapers have a small water stain to the top edge which has been replicated to the first few pages of the book but without impact to the text; the last few pages have signs of an even smaller stain. Black boards are very slightly stained to head of spine and overlapping front and rear boards. Inside of dust jacket is water-stained to part of top edge (see image). The outer appearance of the book bears no signs of these stains and this is nonetheless a good copy at an affordable price. Price-unclipped. This edition includes a considerable amount of previously unpublished material which was originally cut from the first edition of 1979.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. This is a UK first edition hardcover published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1990. ASIDE from a very small chip from the top front corner of the jacket, the jacket is Very Fine and unclipped (£14.95 net in UK). The book is about Fine with straight spine, sharp corners and firm spine ends. There is NOT any loosening at the crown, either end of the spine, which is common with this book due to its weight. However the page edges are toned. The copyright page confirms the UK first edition state. This is a great looking copy - far better than my harsh description makes it sound.

The plot centers on a deadly pandemic of weaponized influenza and its aftermath, in which the few surviving humans gather into factions that are each led by a personification of either good or evil and seem fated to clash with each other. King started writing the story in February 1975, seeking to create an epic in the spirit of The Lord of the Rings. The book was difficult for him to write because of the large number of characters and storylines. Many more photos available. Signed by Author(s).
