Cutbush obviously consulted every contemporary book and journal domestic and foreign dealing with pyrotechny to prepare such an exhaustive and scholarly work; every little detail was set down. The book is a landmark not only in the general history of pyrotechny but especially as the first major American contribution to the literature of fireworks.' A System of Pyrotechny was published posthumously by his wife Clara. References: Brock. Du Pont. CP. Rink 2158 Philip C120.1 [Phoenix AZ U.S.A.] Full leather hardcover with red and gilt title on the spine. Both boards are split and pulled away from the spine only attached by string. Boards are heavily worn around the edges and the spine has a crack right down the middle. Name in pen on the first end page and another in pencil on the title page. Pages are heavily foxed but all are present. Plate included in the back of the book. Some loss because of insect damage to the a few pages in the back of the book.
