Item Description: Harper & Brothers, New York, 1940. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Illustrated by Sewell, Helen (illustrator). First Edition. The Very Scarce First Edition of one of the LITTLE HOUSE Books. Bookplate, else a clean, bright Very Good copy of the Book in an attractive jacket. The top edges of the pages are pretty dusty and there is some minor rubbing to the end papers. Otherwise the Book is clean. The jacket is price clipped, though original to the Book, as I plucked it from the shelf it had sat upon for 50 plus years myself! Some dust darkening and edge wear, more pronounced on the rear panel. Some short tears and a small chip from the rear panel, but still an attractive example. Overall, an attractive copy of a Book that is scarce in any condition! Though not perfect, this is still a copy in collectible condition. Bookseller Inventory # 273286

Item Description: Harper & Bros., New York, 1940. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good-. Helen Sewell, Mildred Boyle (illustrator). Later Printing. Surely a later printing of this early edition (copyright date given is 1940), HB letter code 11-0, beneath which appears the letters G-W, this would seem to indicate an actual printing date of July '47. Jacket is priced at two dollars, showing code numbers 4401 and 90-130 at bottom of front flap. Book has 325 paginated pages, foredge deckled. Front boards brown illustration on russet background, reads well as does spine lettering. The book has a notably sound, tight binding and a small assortment of mild flaws. While the boad tips have no major bumping or abrasion, there is a very small dent just back from the upper front tip. Two tiny white smudges, barely noticeable back board. One tiny fleck each on half title page and blank following, text otherwise unmarked, no owner's name penned. The jacket is remarkably pretty with no chip outs and no long tears. Some creasing and edgewear, especially upper back panel. The jacket will be placed in a new mylar wrapper for its photograph, which will soon be added to the listing. JUST ADDED a trade paper reading copy of LW, presuming the hardcover rathern too nice and pricey to serve. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*. Bookseller Inventory # 6781

Item Description: New York: Harper Brothers: all later Helen Sewell printings - Farmer Boy and the first three, Woods, Prairie, and Creek were published in 1946; Silver Lake, Long Winter, and Town in 1947. The first four measure 7x8.5, the last three measure 5.5x8., 1947. /Helen Sewell, illustrator (illustrator). CONDITION: Little Town is in bad shape, cracked hinge and cup rings, rubbing. Little House on the Prairie is Good and has clean straight boards but one folded sheet loose and one loosening. The remaining five books are Very Good; almost all have bookplates and no other marks, all have corners moderately bumped and worn through, all have quite clean boards and pages. Farmer Boy and Big Woods have spine ends rubbed off about 3/16"; Plum Creek, which we replaced, is in much nicer shape with a Good jacket with large chips. Juvenile hardbacks The story, written over almost 10 years, of the Wilder family, who moved back and forth across the lightly settled frontier, along with the story of Alonzo's childhood on a well established farm in northern New York. This was a set of books belonging to one little girl. Probably the first group was given to her in 1945 and the second in 1946. (Plum Creek was missing and replaced and she was probably never given Happy Golden Years.) Although the condition varies quite a bit, we would like to keep them together. ABE Heritage Seller since 1996; conservative AB condition grading. We ship all our books in cardboard protection. International shipping. /Helen Sewell, illustrator. Bookseller Inventory # 20274
