Five raised bands, faded gilt titles to spine.Frontispiece has engraving of author, three further engravings. Fronted by 59 pages on the life and death of author, further 855pp containing chapters from Genesis to Kings II. VOLUME II - front boards almost completely detached, held only by leather to tail of spine. Dated 1793. Missing free endpaper. 718pp containing chapters from Chronicles I to the Song of Solomon. VOLUME III - binding is complete,pasted on label to spine partly missing, front endpaper detached but present. Dated 1793. xi.700pp containing chapters Isaiah to Zechariah and Malachi. VOLUME IV - binding complete, pasted on labels to spine partly missing. dated 1794. vii.1043pp containing chapters Matthew to Revelation. Volumes I and II have matching bindings, as do Volumes III and IV, all from the same publisher. The condition of each is commensurate with their age, the leather binding scuffed and worn, but internally the pages are clean and unmarked and the text blocks solid. Henrys' verse by verse study of the bible, begun in 1708, was hugely influential. He died before finishing the task which was completed by other minsters based on Henry's notes.
