Item Description: New York : B F Jay [1942], 1942. First in a series of the Treasure Books. This volume, in the original box, contains shortened versions of Alice In Wonderland, Treasure Island & Rip Van Winkle with movables. Montanaro p315 This copy lacks the celluloid moon face featured in Rip, which has shattered from too much heat over the years; his fishing expedition w/line & cut-out fish is there, a flag and a rotating group of Hendrik Hudson's sailors/bowling pals create another moveable scene; Treasure Island offers in a small purple bag plastic jewels, a map of Treasure Island [torn holder], a Black Spot lift-the-flap & an apple barrel w/removeable apple to find our hero, Jim Hawkins. Alice in Wonderland also provides us w/a letter & 2 moveables. The cover of this exceedingly thick book shows us a scrim behind which is seen a tossing full-rigged ship, a drowning sailor & a large fish. A cave w/moveable rocks will create the storm of movement. Treasure chest w/sparkling stuff is visible also. In the original box with drop down side for easy removal, which has a different pictorial paste label with The White Rabbit, Long John Silver & Hendrik Hudson featured!unpaged [25], 1st Edition Very Good/VG Montanaro p. 315.
