Illustrated with one very nice foldout facsimiles of letters written by Juniu to Woodfall. This is a collection of letters from the eighteenth-century writer who used the pseudonym Junius though it is speculated that his real name was Sir Philip Frances. The letters were originally submitted and published in the periodical Public Advertiser, and the present volume contains letters to and/or from Sir William Draper, the Duke of Grafton, Mr. Edward Weston, Sir William Blackstone, and the Duke of Bedford. The Letters of Junius had a definite objective:to inform the public of their historical and constitutional rights and liberties as Englishmen; to highlight where and how the government had infringed upon these rights. For example: "The delegation( Aztec) proceeded to the business of the day, and spread on the ground (for Cortez) what any archeologist today-and I think I myself-would give eye- teeth to see."
