Item Description: Literary Guide, New York, 1931. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Diego Rivera (illustrator). First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 338 pages. Everything about this book is clean, tight, and bright. Only the spine and top of the boards that are faded to a light lavender is out of place. Blind stamped purple front cover with Title and author. Spine has title, author, pub. in bright gilt. Frontis in bright colors. All of the remaining illustrations by Diego Rivera are sketched in black. End papers clean. Text is well written in a familiar kind of style. For example: "The delegation( Aztec) proceeded to the business of the day, and spread on the ground (for Cortez) what any archeologist today-and I think I myself-would give eye- teeth to see." The authors description of the way different cultures are not locked into "time" as westerners are is fascinating. A Good Read in excellent condition. Bookseller Inventory # 001366

Item Description: Kay & Bros, Phildephia, 1873. Full-Leather. Book Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: None Issued. Tenth. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Leather shows handling wear. Spine ends scuffed. Title bar with Brightly's Purdon's Digest. 2nd bar showing vol. # A-J 1700-1872. Front hinge split so board is attached by threads. Text block tight, pages tight. Rare bits of foxing found. No stains or writing found. I did find a full page, hand-written petition, dated November Session 1858, "by the citizens of the village of Emlinton Township of Richland requesting the village be change into a Borough." This petition bears the embossed seal of the court. Large book. Extra postage. It's really a tad fascinating to read the law of the land at that time. From bread to butter to hog's lard. From duel ling to stealing. Anything spelled from A to J is covered. Bookseller Inventory # 002554
