Banners

We offer banners of many shapes, sizes, and styles in the Google Affiliate Network Platform. To obtain banners, simply login to GAN, navigate to the "links" tab, and choose the banner that suits your site. You can easily add a banner to your site by copying, and pasting the GAN tracking tag-embedding code.

Links

Similar to our banners, we also offer pre-built links in the Google Affliate Network platform. We design our links to include catchy text, and to link to high-converting pages. We are constantly updating our links, so GAN offers a 'link subscription' that allows you to obtain link updates by email on a regular schedule. To obtain links, simply login to GAN, navigate to the 'links' tab, and choose the links that best suit your site. You can easily add a link to your site by copying, and pasting the GAN tracking tag-embedded code.

Deep Link Tool

The AbeBooks.com Deep Link Tool allows you to create a search link based on advanced criteria. Essentially, the tool replicates our advanced search function, and embeds your Google Affiliates Network tracking code. You can also choose to include HTML tags, and custom link text for easy link creation.

Search Web Services

Search Web Serices (SWS) is a search API that gives detailed, and real-time access to our inventory. Authorized affiliates can use the service to query our database, and immediately obtain detailed information about any of our listings. SWS is intended for the exclusive use of affiliates to drive traffic to one of the AbeBooks sites.

To gain access to SWS, please contact affiliate@abebooks.com, subject line "SWS Application" and include the following information:

1. The IP address you'll use to make the requests
2. Your website's URL
3. Email Address
4. Technical Contact Name
5. Affiliate ID

To embed Google Affiliate Network tracking tags into your links obtained through SWS, please follow the steps below:

1. When you submit a query to SWS, you will receive your search results in XML format. The redirect URL can be obtained from the appropriate element.
2. Encode the redirect URL (here is an example of a free URL Decoder / Encoder)
3. Use the following link as a template:
   http://www.gan.doubleclick.net/gan_click?lid=41000000024810251&pubid=[GAN_ID]&redirect=[EDCODED_REDIRECT_LINK]
4. Replace [ENCODED_REDIRECT_LINK] with the redirect link created in steps 1 and 2.
5. Replace [GAN_ID] with your Google Affiliate Network ID (a 17 digit number starting with 2100. It ca be found in the lower-right corner of the screen when you are logged into the Google Affiliate Network.

Data Feeds

Our data feeds are large files that contain an organized, and filtered set of inventory listings. The feeds are updated twice weekly, and made available for download over FTP. Affiliates often use data feeds to facilitate a search of our inventory on a mass scale, and to drive traffic to appropriate listings on our site.

Example A:
If a single item is sold for $700, we will pay the affiliate 5% commission on the first $500.

Is there a program cost?

No. It is free to sign up for the AbeBooks affiliate program through Google Affiliate Network.

Are there any affiliate restrictions?

AbeBooks has a number of restrictions on PPC marketing:

1). PPC bidding on trademarked terms is prohibited. Trademarked terms include: abebook, abebooks, abe book, abe books, advanced book exchange, a b e books, abe com, abe's books, www.abebooks.com, abebooks.com, abe books, www.abebooks, etc.

Any word that contains the name AbeBooks or any misspellings is considered a trademark violation.

2). AbeBooks.com does not allow direct linking from search engines.

Violation of these terms may result in reversal of commissions and/or commissions being set to zero and in some cases removal from the program.

Does AbeBooks.com offer coupons?

We occasionally provide site-wide coupons to individual affiliates, small groups of affiliates, or to the network as a whole. Only specific affiliate-authorized coupons are commissionable. To be considered for an exclusive coupon, or semi-exclusive coupon, please email us at affiliate@abebooks.com.

What does AbeBooks look for in an affiliate site?

AbeBooks has a wide variety of affiliates participating in our program. Some of our most successful affiliates include price comparison sites, blogs, and shopping & promotion sites. We encourage diverse applicants to join, however we do not allow sites featuring objectionable material (including pornography, racist or sexist sites etc.) to be a part of our program.

When do I get paid?

Affiliates are paid through Google Affiliate Network once a month around the 20th of each month. A minimum of $100 is required to be in the account before a payment is issued.

How do you track purchases made by users from my web site?

When a visitor clicks on your AbeBooks.com link, a cookie is placed in their browser. This cookie has a life of 90 days after the most recent click. If the visitor completes the purchase on AbeBooks.com within the life of the cookie, the sale and commission will be attributed to you.

It is important to remember that the cookie may be overwritten if the visitor clicks on another affiliate’s AbeBooks link, for example:

A visitor arrives on AbeBooks.com through Site A’s affiliate link, but does not complete the purchase. Then, that same visitor goes to Site B, and arrives on AbeBooks.com through Site B’s affiliate link.

In this case, only Site B earns the commission as they had the last referring click.

How do I add deep links?

Our Deep Link Tool allows you to generate HTML code that includes a customized search query, as well as your affiliate tracking code.

Does AbeBooks.com provide links, graphics, and banners?

Yes, we offer hundreds of different links, graphics, and banners. These are available under the “Links” tab in the GAN interface. The links, graphics, and banners are constantly being updated, so please check back often, or email us at affiliate@abebooks.com if you are unable to find the size, or style that you are looking for.

What is Search Web Services (SWS)?

The AbeBooks Search Web Services (SWS) allows users to gain direct, real-time access to our inventory. Users can run queries on various parameters such as ISBN, author, title, keyword, or publisher to obtain information about book prices, shipping prices, images, vendor descriptions, and more. Users can also fine-tune their search results by applying filters such as vendor location, book condition, seller rating etc.

By building custom applications, users can essentially re-create our search functions on their own websites.
