How do we become book lovers? Oh, there are many factors - how quickly we learn to read, how often our parents read to us and their level of enthusiasm, maybe even genetics. But we all go to high school.
Surely one of the deciding factors in whether books become a passion for us is high school. The teachers we learn from, the books we're assigned and the way we experience other worlds, lives and realities through the written word all influence our perspective and our very beings.
What do high school students read in the Ukraine? How would the reading list of a Filipino teenager differ from that of a Canadian one?
Starting right here in the AbeBooks office, from our very own staff, we take a look at the books we read in high school, that help shape our tastes and love of reading for the future.

Booker Prize Longlist
Every year, the Man Booker Prize for Fiction is one of the most anticipated, predicted and talked about literary awards. This year's longlist has been announced, and as always, there are some surprises. Some big names with new books were left off (Margaret Atwood, where are you?), and in an unusual twist, one of the nominees is authored by a chimpanzee - specifically, Tarzan's sidekick, Cheeta.
