Collecting Kennedy: Rare JFK Books
John F. Kennedy was sworn in as the 35th president of the United States of America on January 20, 1961. He had already made a tremendous impact on American politics before he took the oath but his reign in the White House would last less than three years.
Authors are still writing about him today and the 50th anniversary of his inauguration has sparked books such as Portrait of Camelot and JFK: Day by Day. The world’s fascination with this man from Massachusetts includes interest in his family and his loves, his rise to power and his speeches, his war-time heroics in the South Pacific, his handling of Russia, Cuba and the civil rights movement, and his death in Dallas on November 22, 1963. Every aspect of his life has been examined and recorded.
There are a huge number of collectible items about JFK – some very expensive and some much more affordable. Obviously, his signature is treasured and rare, but this genre stretches from his high school year book to the books written by him, his speeches, letters and photographs to newspaper reports of his death.
