Among their specialties are African American literature and history, modern first editions including poetry, books by women authors, mysteries, science fiction, fantasy and horror; children's books from the hard-to-find first editions of classic children's books like Curious George - to pop-up books and juvenile series, especially the popular Trixie Belden, and less well-known, but still loved authors like Augusta Huiell Seaman. They have more than 30,000 books listed online, including 22,000 first editions and over 8,000 books signed by the author or illustrator, including some uncommon inscribed books.

Shep and Chris are often at events like the World Science Fiction Convention - most recently, Sasquan in Spokane, Washington, where George R. R. Martin was one of attending authors - and the Nebula Awards weekend in San Jose, California.
