About CHESTNUT STREET BOOKS
WELCOME! Chestnut Street Books is an open shop located at 11 W.Chestnut Street in downtown Lancaster, PA. For the past 15 years we've sold to our local market and to the visitors who come to experience Amish Country, and for the past 12 years we've also been selling via the internet. We're not a huge store -- my wife and I are the only workers -- but we focus our attention and inventory toward the less-common and more-interesting books. If you visit us (and we hope you will), there's metered parking in front of the store.
Two Important Quirks to Keep in Mind: (1) We don't have an answering machine, so call us when the shop is open (10-5 Wednesday through Saturday), and (2) while most shops are closed on Sunday and many are also closed on Monday, we find that we need a 3-day weekend -- so we're closed Tuesday as well.
We take internet customers very seriously. We do our best to grade and describe our books accurately, and we respond to orders quickly -- usually the same day we receive them. Returns are guided by the Abebook policies. Simply follow the directions that ABE prescribes for returns. If the return of the book is because it is NOT as we described it, in addition to the price of the book, your refund will including the shipping charges you originally paid as well as the postage to return the book to us. (In any case, please write us first for instructions). We affix tracking to ALL domestic shipments with a value over $15.00; this is not possible with International orders, so we urge that the purchaser include insurance. We will provide proof that the package was shipped, BUT WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR UNINSURED PACKAGES WHICH DO NOT REACH THE CUSTOMER.

All books are sold with a 10-day guarantee; money back IF NOT AS DESCRIBED. Checks or money orders
can be accepted ONLY for addresses within the US. Library Purchase Orders are welcomed and can be
invoiced if necessary.

Shipping Terms:
Shipping costs are based on packages weighing 2 pounds or less. Books which are heavier than this will cost more to ship and we will contact you by eMail if this is the case.
+++DOMESTIC MAIL:
** Media Mail within the US for this "typical" 2-pound package would be $4.50 for the first book, $2.50 for each additional book. A multi-volume set is NOT treated as a single volume.
** Priority Mail for the same order would cost $7.50 for the first book. $4.50 for each additional book. Heavy books bound for the west coast will require additional postage.
+++ INTERNATIONAL ORDERS will be shipped the least expensive way possible unless another option is requested. Insurance is optional and strongly recommended for valuable books. WE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR UNINSURED PACKAGES ONCE SENT..
