Rare Book Room

We're pleased to announce the launch of a dedicated area on the Abebooks.com homepage that will be devoted to showcasing the unparalleled selection of rare, antiquarian and highly collectible books available from Abebooks booksellers, and we invite you to actively participate. We will also personally select bookstores for inclusion in our rare and antiquarian bookseller directory.

The Rare Book Room will highlight rare books by focusing on different themes from week to week. The room will officially open this week with a feature on rare and antiquarian maps and atlases from around the world.

How do you submit an item?

Please let us know if you would like to be part of one of these features. You can send an e-mail to features@abebooks.com with

• feature name,
• item name(s),
• a photograph (if it is not already included in your book description on Abebooks), and
• an up to 50-word description about the item’s history and why the item is collectible or rare.

Guidelines

We incorporated as many bookseller suggestions as possible to create an editorial calendar and guidelines for submissions. We will personally select items for these features.

1) We will include no more than three items per bookseller in each feature. If a feature topic is popular, we may choose only one book per bookseller.

2) Our editorial team will look for items considered rare, highly collectible or antiquarian for these features.

3) We will not accept any print-to-order books or items that are considered extremely common.

Rare and Antiquarian Bookseller Directory

We also invite you to submit your store in our rare book and antiquarian bookseller directory. We will have a permanent area dedicated to bookstores selling rare, antiquarian or highly collectible titles (with a link to your general listing on Abebooks). The directory will list bookstores in alphabetical order. We will personally update the area whenever we receive a request for inclusion from a bookstore. To be included, please send an e-mail to features@abebooks.com with the following information:

* an up to 50-word description of your bookstore,

* a list of up to 10 areas of specializations, and

* a photograph of your store or collection (optional).
