The Newbery Medal
The Newbery Medal is awarded annually by
the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), which is a division
of the American Library Association (ALA). The award honors the author
of "the most distinguished contribution to American literature
for children". The winner of the 2004 Newbery Medal is Kate DiCamillo.
