Rules:
The rules are simple. Entrants must complete a registration form and return it to the 3-Day Novel Contest along with an entry fee of $50.00 (non-refundable; CDN funds for Canadian residents; $50.00 USD for all other entrants). Registrations must be postmarked by Friday, September 2, 2005 to qualify. Group registration rates are now available.
Mail registration form to:
3-Day Novel Contest
341 Water Street, Suite 200
Vancouver BC
V6B 1B8
Canada
Outlines are permitted prior to the contest; however, the actual writing must begin no earlier than 12:01 a.m., Saturday, September 3rd and stop by midnight on Monday, September 5th. Novels may be written using any method, and in any location, anywhere in the world. Yes, the honour system still exists! (We know you’re doing this for the grit, not the glory, plus, we can tell if you cheat.)
Copy must be typed, double-spaced, on 8.5 X 11 or A4 white paper, with pages numbered (no folders, clips or staples please). Participants have four days following the contest to have handwritten manuscripts typed.
Mail finished novels to the 3-Day Novel Contest at the address above, using regular mail and postmarked no later than September 10, 2005. Include a business-size SASE (Canadian postage or IRC) and a statement, signed by a witness, confirming the novel’s completion over the 2005 Labour Day Weekend.
Manuscripts will NOT be returned. Entrants retain all copyright for their work, however, publishing an entry in any form (including self-publishing, chapbooks, or web publishing) before the winner is announced will disqualify the author from winning. After the announcement, we will present the winning author with a publishing contract. All other entrants may develop or publish their novels as they wish.
The winner will be announced in December 2005. We’ll use your SASE to send you a list of the prize winners and shortlisted authors, along with a special token that will prove that you really did it!
SOME FURTHER GUIDELINES
