Poor Hermit Crab! He's outgrown his snug little shell, so he finds
himself a larger oneand many new friends to decorate and protect
his new house. But what will happen when he outgrows this shell, and
has to say good-bye to all the sea creatures who have made Hermit Crab's
house a home?
Dazzlingly colorful collage illustrations and a simple but dramatic
text tell the fascinating story of the life cycle of a flower in terms
of the adventures of a tiny seed. Carried aloft by the autumn wind,
the tiny seed, along with other bigger seeds, travels far over the world.
The journey is perilous: one of the bigger seeds is burned by the sun;
another falls into the ocean; still another is eaten by a bird. Even
after those that are left have landed on fertile ground and begun to
grow, danger is near: one small plant is stepped on; one little flower
is picked; but the tiny seed keeps growing almost unnoticed.
The simple, repeating story of a young cricket who tries to say hello
to the locust, worm, etc. who greet him. He cannot make a sound until
the day he meets a very quiet girl cricket. Classic Carle illustrations
on heavy stock make this ideal for younger readers. The chirper that
sounds when the last page is opened makes an accurate cricket sound.
Follow an adventurous honeybee as she goes about her busy day, sipping
nectar from flowers, avoiding hungry birds and playing with butterflies.
But when a robber bear scratches at their nest looking for honey, all
the bees must rush out to defend their home. This classic Eric Carle
story is brought to life by movable pull-tabs that children can use
to animate the action, as well as a pop-up spread of a colorful butterfly,
one of Eric Carle's most gorgeous pieces of art.
One night a very lonely firefly goes off in search of friends. Each
time he sees a flicker of light he flies off toward it, but none of
them turn out to be fireflies. He sees a lantern, an owl's eyes, even
headlights shining in the darkness. Will the lonely firefly ever find
creatures like himself? A classic in its own time, The Very Lonely Firefly
is finally available in a beautiful board book format, perfect for the
youngest readers and the smallest hands. And just as in the hardcover
edition, the fireflies' lights actually light up, delighting children
of all ages.

The farm animals try to divert a busy little spider from spinning her
web, but she persists and produces a thing of both beauty and usefulness.
The pictures may be felt as well as seen.
String beans, spaghetti, ZOOOOP, roast beef, fresh fish, chicken and
ice cream are the delicious fare during the week in this popular children's
song. Until Sunday. Then, all the world's children are invited to come
together and share in the meal. Celebrated artist Eric Carle brings
new energy to these much-loved verses as lively animals parade across
the page, munching on favorite dishes, and introducing young readers
to the names of the days of the week. Both art and song invite children
to join in the procession and sing along.
The clouds drift across the bright blue sky-all except one. Little
Cloud trails behind. He is busy changing shapes to become a fluffy sheep,
a zooming airplane, and even a clown with a funny hat. Eric Carle's
trademark collages will make every reader want to run outside and discover
their very own little cloud.
I can do it! is the confidence-building message of this fun-filled
interactive picture book. A variety of familiar animals, depicted in
colorful collages, invites young children to copy their antics as they
wiggle, stomp, thump, and bend across the strikingly designed pages.
The movements suggested in this book have been chosen carefully to provide
healthful exercises for many parts of the body in sequence. And as they
play, children will be learning important skills such as listening carefully,
focusing attention, understanding the spoken word, following instructions,
and accepting a challenge, as well as being able to move their bodies
in a controlled manner.
Finally, here's a brand-new book in Eric Carle's extraordinarily popular
Very series. And with a new surprise!
