Virginia WoolfWith the upcoming film version of The Hours, one of the most influential and important authors of the 20th century is back in the spotlight. Feminist novelist and essayist Virginia Woolf (1882 - 1941) was known for her experimental, stream-of-consciousness technique and, on a personal level, for her mental instability. She drowned herself in 1941, fearing that she would suffer a breakdown and not recover. Her most famous novel was probably Mrs. Dalloway, which, through the account of a day in one woman's life, explores relationships between the sexes.
