(Victoria, BC - January 24, 2005), the world’s largest marketplace for new, used, rare and out-of-print books, is celebrating literature that unites parents and children in reading and learning on Canada’s seventh Family Literacy Day (January 27).

The Victoria-based site, founded in 1996, lists millions of used titles ideal for children of all ages with prices starting at just $1.

To encourage families to read together, is featuring a list of 100 inspirational children’s books by Canadian authors, as recommended by the Toronto Public Library. It is also donating the commission from sales of these recommended titles on January 27 to ABC CANADA Literacy Foundation – the charity behind Family Literacy Day

. Recommendations stretch across picture books for under-fives, early reading titles for grades one and two, and fiction for older children and teenagers. Poetry, folklore and non-fiction also come under the spotlight. Acclaimed Canadian authors, from Robert Munsch, honorary chair of Family Literacy Day, to Mordecai Richler, are among the inspirational writers featured in the recommendations.
