ABEBOOKS.COM TO RELEASE HOMEBASE2.1 WITH ISBN LOOKUP
5th February 2001
(Victoria, BC) - AbeBooks.com announces the upcoming release
of HomeBase2.1 with ISBN Lookup. The world's leading online book
search engine is making it easier for booksellers to complete
data entry tasks, by adding ISBN functionality to the latest version
of its bookstore management software, in a product release set
for this spring.
Author, title, illustrator, publisher information, and key words
will automatically be listed with books, once the bookseller enters
the ISBN number into the new software. The enhancement will make
it easier and faster for booksellers to upload books to the abebooks.com
web site, helping to cut down costs of data entry, and speeding
up the process of doing business online. Because the ISBN numbers
will automatically add certain information about books, it will
also be easier for customers to find and choose books on the abebooks.com
web site - which should further increase booksellers' sales.
AbeBooks.com has chosen Bowker to supply the ISBN numbers in
North America and plans to expand the functions internationally.
Beta testing for the product will last four weeks, during which
time a selected group of booksellers will test the product and
report their suggestions for further refinement.
More information and product demos will be available this spring.
