ABEBOOKS.COM OPENS STRATEGIC MARKETS FOR UK AND CANADA
5th July 2000
(Victoria, BC) - AbeBooks.com, the world's largest web-based
network of independent booksellers, opens its joint venture with
U.S.-based 21 North Main to booksellers in the UK and Canada.
The partnership allows abebooks.com's Canadian and
UK booksellers to sell their used, rare, and out-of-print books
to the U.S. library market - the largest single used-book market
segment, constituting a third or more of the total market volume
annually. It will also open a new resource for librarians to find
the books they need, as they will draw on millions of books through
abebooks.com's inventory.
The optional program has been available to U.S.
booksellers since January 2000. Without additional work, participating
booksellers benefit from increased exposure, with two companies
working to promote their books. Booksellers also enjoy regular
access to the wish lists of the largest research libraries in
the U.S.
