AbeBooks, the world's largest online used book marketplace,
makes inventory available to Amazon.com customers.
5th September, 2002
(Victoria, BC) - AbeBooks, the world's largest online marketplace
for used, rare and out-of-print books, today announced it is making
millions of books available through Amazon's Marketplace program,
which enables third party sellers to list inventory in Amazon.com's
retail catalog. AbeBooks' inventory will be available to millions
of book buyers worldwide on Amazon.com's e-commerce platform,
significantly expanding the selection of used books available
to Amazon.com customers.
Commenting on the announcement, Brent James, chief executive officer
of AbeBooks comments: "Amazon Marketplace creates real value
for customers by bringing increased choice and selection when
making purchases. The customer's choices expand significantly
when we add AbeBooks millions of used books to the equation."
The option of listing books through Amazon Marketplace is being
made available to the thousands of booksellers who currently list
their used, rare and out-of-print books on AbeBooks sites. This
new arrangement brings their books to wider markets of online
bookbuyers. Brent James explains: "AbeBooks exists to help
our worldwide membership booksellers sell their books. This new
option enhances our ability to do that."
