ABEBOOKS.COM INVITES ALL WRITERS IN THE 3-DAY NOVEL CONTEST TO CHAT ONLINE
AbeBooks launches online discussion where writers can chat, compare plotlines and question their sanity during unique, international three-day writing marathon.
(Victoria, BC, CANADA, August 31, 2004)—AbeBooks.com, the world’s largest online marketplace for books, is reaching out to writers in this year’s 3-Day Novel Contest by offering them a place online to share their writing ideas, vent their frustrations and chat.
Today AbeBooks.com launches a homepage feature on the contest, and invites all entrants in this year’s contest to take part in online discussions in the AbeBooks Community Forums.
The 3 Day Novel Contest, now in its 27th year, attracts hundreds of writers worldwide who start writing at midnight on September 3rd, and strive to produce a literary masterwork in 72 hours or less. A panel of judges read the results and the 3-Day Novel Contest publishes the best work.
The contest has been called a fad, a threat and "a uniquely Canadian contribution to world literature." Entrants pre-register before September 3rd and are trusted to follow simple rules such as “Writing must begin no earlier than 12:01 am, Saturday, Sept. 4 and must stop before midnight, Monday, Sept 6th.” Full rules and entry forms can be found on www.abebooks.com and www.3daynovel.com.
Lisa Stevens, AbeBooks VP of Marketing comments: “It’s a great way to link up a virtual writing community, since novels can be written in any location and our forums are open twenty-four hours. Also, being a Canadian company, we wanted to share this uniquely Canadian initiative with the world via AbeBooks.com”
