ABEBOOKS.COM AIMS AT COLLEGE CROWD WITH NEW WEB PARTNER
10th January 2000
(Victoria, BC) - AbeBooks.com, the world's largest web-based
network of independent booksellers, announces a joint venture
with U.S.-based 21 North Main (www.21northmain.com).
The new partnership will allow abebooks.com's over
5,200 booksellers to reach the lucrative college and university
library market - the largest single used-book market segment,
constituting a third or more of the total market volume annually.
It will also open a new resource for librarians to find the books
they need, as they will draw on abebooks.com's inventory of more
than 18 million listings.
Without additional work, dealers will benefit from
increased exposure, with two companies working to promote their
books. Dealers will also enjoy regular access to the want lists
of the largest research libraries in the U.S. abebooks.com and
21 North Main will become the preferred source for hard-to-find
books for college and university librarians through a combination
of cutting-edge technologies, unmatched inventory, and the unrivaled
abebooks.com dealer network.
